A measurement platform for seminal protein content.

The Cumomics platform uses a proprietary dye-binding colorimetric reaction. In its unbound state, the reagent dye is protonated into a cationic form — a reddish-brown solution with a maximum light absorbance (λ_max) at 465 nm.

When proteins from your sample are introduced, the dye binds through a combination of electrostatic interactions with basic amino acid residues — arginine, lysine, and histidine — and hydrophobic attractions. This non-covalent binding stabilizes the unprotonated, anionic state of the dye, shifting its color to a deep blue and moving the absorbance peak to 595 nm.

The magnitude of that spectral shift — from 465 nm to 595 nm — is directly proportional to total protein concentration. Our proprietary collection device controls sample volume and reagent delivery with controlled precision, and your smartphone camera captures the resulting color change with enough fidelity to resolve that shift into a quantitative protein readout.
